With many fearing the second wave of the Coronavirus, restrictions across the country are now being paused or reversed. Many have criticized Trump's response to the virus, and underestimating the severity of it by comparing it the flu. Despite the loose connection, Trump is correct about the virus's low danger to humans.

The number of asymptomatic cases drastically outweighs the symptomatic cases. Robert Redfield, director of the CDC stated in an interview, "Our best estimate right now is that for every case that's reported, there actually are 10 other infections," and "The traditional approach of looking for symptomatic illness and diagnosing it obviously underestimates the total amount of infections." Our full article on this discovery can be read here.

In addition, the amount of cases that require hospitalization is extremely low. According to the CDC, the cumulative hospitalization rate for the Coronavirus is 98.4 per 100,000 people, which is equivalent to a hospitalization rate of 0.0984%. The highest hospitalization rate comes from those 65 and older, with only 267.6 per 100,000 people being hospitalized. The mortality rate differs drastically between countries, with the United States having a rate of 4.84%, whereas the United Kingdom has a rate of 13.99% as of July 1, 2020. However, if we were to take in the asymptomatic cases into account, this mortality rate would be drastically lower. The mortality rate has also been decreasing in the United States, with WorldOMeters.info reporting the lowest 7-day moving average death rate since late March.

In conclusion, although this virus should not be taken lightly, the idea that this virus poses a major threat to the public is inaccurate, with our current research showing that this virus poses very little threat.
